Long Anticipated News…

We are returning to Ecuador!

These last eight months have proved to be many things for us. Mountains, valleys, great times of joy, to anxiety and sadness. Our lives continue to be transformed by the Holy Spirit and throughout it all we remain faithful to the call God has set before us. And at the time of this writing, our return to Ecuador is one week away!

As we have shared, while we have been in Virginia we both had temporary jobs. At the time of this writing, my (Matt) job will finish tomorrow. I have thought a lot about legacy lately, perhaps because of things happening around me, but mostly because of wanting to depart a job, well. I’m reflecting on the community that I have found through a coffee shop, customers who have often had quite the interest in our journey, even asking how they can be or are praying with us. For me, that is a success for this temporary job. I am grateful that there was a place where I could create and find community and was able to share more about our ministry in Ecuador.

I have also been thinking recently about the legacy of family. As missionaries, often we miss certain family events, holidays, birthdays, weddings, etc.  For example, my Grandfather Harold Harris passed away while we were in the first month of our ministry in Feb. 2021. Twice, during the last four months, Andréa has had the opportunity to visit her Grandmother Ursula Plas, who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in November 2021. We also attended her funeral services this past week as she transition to eternal life March 9th, 2022. It was a sorrowful time yet an unique time for us to visit, mourn, hug and support one another as we celebrated her life.

As Andréa and I continue to guide our family towards God’s calling, our hope is that our legacy would be one of faith, of love, of serving others, and our service to the Lord. We covet your prayers as we prepare to pack, travel, and continue the work the Lord is already doing throughout the Seminario Teológico Nazareno Sudamericano and the churches in Ecuador. We also want to know how we can pray for you! Please leave us a comment on how we can pray for you, your family and your church! Thank you all so much for your support and may God bless you and keep you!
