Here are a few pictures of our week! Would you please continue to pray for our students, the NILI program and the families who assist in ministering with us to these students!
What an amazing week we have had! Last Friday we went to Basílica de Voto Nacional and the Church of La Compañía de Jesús. Each of these churches have unique historical value to the city of Quito! Basílica is considered to be the national church for the Catholic faith, and it has three towers that you can climb! Andréa along with the NILI students and Pastora Lucy were able to climb all three and take wonderful photos and videos. The view from Basílica is absolutely incredible! The Church of La Compañía was absolutely beautiful as well, as the inside of the church is made entirely of gold! What a wonderful day of sightseeing and learning more about the history of this wonderful city and country!
On Saturday, we had a picnic in Parque Metropolitano de Quito with the host families of our students. It was a wonderful day outside, and we were able to play fútbol (soccer) and walk around the large park. What a surprise on the other side of the park when we saw llamas (see our Instagram for the pics)! We are pretty sure they are domesticated but there were still around 20-30 llamas walking around and eating the lush green grass!
We also had some hopeful news this week and ask for your prayers! There could be some exciting updates happening with the NILI program and we will keep you posted! Interested in learning more about what NILI is? Check out our social media (Facebook/Instagram) or check out www.gonili.com. If you ever wanted to learn Spanish to help with your ministry, career or further education, we would love to have you here in Quito!
View of the Virgin of El Panecillo from the 8th floor of Basícila (and that’s not even the highest it goes!)
Taco Night at the Hopster apartment! Pastora Lucy showed us how to make tortillas, a skill she has learned over the years working with NILI!
After climbing all over Basícila, Matt knew that Andréa needed a Whopper and fries! Our first American lunch in Quito and it did not disappoint!
Outside of La Compañía! Right in the heart of downtown Quito!
